This 1970 Mustang Mach is one of 1,130 428 Cobra Jet “Ram Air” models produced for the 1970 model year. The car was built in September and delivered to Columbus, Ohio where it was sold by Dick Masheter Ford. This car was with enjoyed by its previous owner for the last fifteen years. Power comes from its original 428ci Cobra Jet Ram Air V8 engine paired with its original C-6 automatic transmission, and the car is finished in red paint over black knitted vinyl. Additional equipment includes the optional 3.25:1 conventional rear-end , power front disc brakes, replacement 15″ Magnum wheels, power steering, black hood stripe, rear deck spoiler, rear slats and chin spoiler (dealer installed), AM radio, and tachometer packages. This magnificent Mach 1 is now offered in Connecticut with records, a Deluxe Marti Report, an original window sticker, an owner’s manual, and a clean Pennsylvania title.
Mach 1 equipment included grille-mounted fog lights, functional ram-air scoop, rear deck spoiler, chin spoiler and rear slats. The rockers feature the one year only Mach 1 finned aluminum panels. The rear deck features the Mach 1 letters. This example is finished in its factory Red with performance black hood stripes featuring integrated 428 letters.
Replacement magnum 15” wheels are wrapped in BF Goodrich white-letter tires, and a steel rimmed mounted spare and lug wrench are stored in the trunk. The car is equipped with power steering as well as front disc and rear drum brakes.
Inside, the Mach 1 Interior Décor Group adds Comfortweave inserts on the black hi-back vinyl buckets and simulated wood-grain appliques on the door panels, center console, and dash. The automatic shifter is located in the center console.
Instrumentation includes an 8k-rpm tachometer and 140-mph speedometer flanked by gauges for coolant temperature and fuel level. Under-dashboard courtesy lights and illumination in the glovebox are all standard equipment. The five-digit odometer shows just under 30k miles.
The 428ci Cobra Jet V8 features die-cast aluminum valve covers, CJ smog system and ram air assembly. Power is sent to the rear wheels via the C-6 automatic transmission and a 3.25:1 differential.
The Deluxe Marti Report lists the original colors and options in addition to the car’s build date and production statistics. Additional documentation includes the original factory window sticker and owner’s manual and build sheet.
